Ingredients

  • 3 pounds pork ribs
  • 1 cup bourbon whiskey
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can baked beans
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Preparation

Start by preparing the bourbon glaze. In a saucepan, combine bourbon, brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until the mixture thickens slightly, about 10 minutes. Set aside.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Season the pork ribs with salt and pepper. Place them on a baking sheet lined with foil. Brush generously with the bourbon glaze.

Bake the ribs for about 1.5 to 2 hours, basting with additional glaze every 30 minutes, until tender and caramelized.

Making Baked Beans and Cornbread

While the ribs are baking, prepare the baked beans. Simply heat the canned beans in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.

For the cornbread, mix the cornmeal, buttermilk, egg, honey, and melted butter in a bowl. Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the bourbon-glazed pork ribs hot, accompanied by baked beans and slices of warm cornbread. Garnish with chopped fresh herbs if desired. This meal pairs well with a cold beverage and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
