Ingredients

  • For the Cilantro Lime Aioli:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Fish Tacos:
  • 1 pound white fish fillets (cod, tilapia, or haddock)
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • For the Fresh Salsa:
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 jalapeño, minced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

Start by preparing the cilantro lime aioli. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, chopped cilantro, lime juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well and set aside to allow flavors to meld.

Next, prepare the fresh salsa. In a bowl, mix diced tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño, cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt. Chill in the refrigerator while you cook the fish.

Season the fish fillets with chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a little oil. Cook the fish for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Flake the fish into bite-sized pieces.

Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave. Assemble the tacos by placing fish on each tortilla, topping with fresh salsa, and drizzling with cilantro lime aioli.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the fish tacos immediately with extra lime wedges and a side of chips or a simple salad. The combination of crispy fish, tangy aioli, and fresh salsa creates a delightful burst of flavors that everyone will enjoy.
